Annndd we’re back

The Holidays are over so it’s back to work! Unfortunately it seems many of my writers have disappeared! I may be starting all over again :( . Oh well, gotta crack a few eggs to make an omelette right? We’re still going ahead with the plan, may be starting it any day now, but if any more active people want to be writers on this thing, please let me know :) .

Aion. Not there. I KNOW.

A friend of mine is coming up from Kentucky this week so I won’t be on Aion much. I know, it sucks. :P

However, this will give me time to actually write down all the stuff I’ve learned about the community and let the other writers know what’s what. I’ve been pretty lazy with that and I apologize. So it may seem quiet, work will still be getting done.

The Winter Ball is coming up, anyone going? I am. Unfortunately, Armi is horribly awkward at these events so I usually end up sitting in a corner watching because my character is a nub, but I am definitely looking forward to it! Hope to see everyone there!

Vanahal District HOOOOOOOOOO!

Recently, I have been so caught up in observing Roleplaying (And trying to save up for my level 38 blue set >.>) that I haven’t had much time to actually roleplay. But, today I got to see the more seedier side of RP and got to participate as well! The darker underbelly within the server was interesting and not something I really ever got to see, so it gave me a bit of inspiration for the storyline overall. It also let me know where a lot of people’s heads were at, which is always useful. So thank you to those who let me be a part of such an experience.

(A special shout out to the sexy, sexy Ishaq and the sexy, but creepy Ryusho for bringing me in :) You guys made me feel comfortable enough to get involved, so thanks!)

I’m now going to try to sneak my way into more RP sessions, as roleplaying with characters is helping a lot with the spinning of ideas.

Now for the, slightly, bad news. With the holidays and finals coming up, the storyline doesn’t look like it’s going to actually start until January. I know, I know, it sucks, but real life does come first and I want my very, VERY talented writers/GMs to be 100% ready. They’re the ones who are really putting things together, I’m just doing the research. Without them, I would be floundering with such a big project and I’m grateful to have had them volunteer!  So look over to the sidebar and see the GM list and give them a big thanks if you see them, if you don’t mind :) . You know I love you guys, and Nordi I need to rp with you and your manly beard.

All in a day’s work.

Not too much has been going on when it comes to the writing of the story, as most of the GMs are busy with school and family thanks to finals and the holidays. So, I’ve taken this opportunity to do some research on Legions on the server and individual characters. It’s been fun talking to legion leaders, looking into their websites and just watching them RP on the server. I’ve found most people to be warm and inviting, absolutely eager to share their stories. Please, keep doing this! This is the canon of our server, you guys are creating the lore already, the storyline is just here to put it all together so everyone will know about it. I love hearing it and the more I know, the better it is for everyone!

With that, we would like to welcome the legions Caelum Gravis and Crusade of the Prophecy to the cause! MMMMMM more tasty lore.

You are being watched…

By me!

This week I’m going to be canvasing the community, roleplaying and observing in order to get a feel of where our storyline needs to go. We GMs don’t want to force the community into a storyline that doesn’t fit, so I am going to be running around trying to find RP Hubs and seeing stories, characters, anything I can get my grubby little hands on. If you see me, you can let me watch or have me join, it makes no difference, just do what you normally do. If a guild is having an event at some point feel free to send me a letter or PM if you want me to observe. I’m not exactly sure when I’m going to start this endeavor, but be on the look out! (Also if you know any other hubs that aren’t the Tavern/Noble District/Banquet Hall I beg thee to let me know!)

Speaking of GMs we have one more and some people who are helping with storylines and not considered GMs. We welcome the new people with open arms, they’re knowledge will be quite useful.

Hey Americans! Happy Turkey Day!

Today’s post brought to you by the letters “W” “A” and “R”

Posted in Armi, Behind The Scenes, Rants on November 24, 2009 by armachia

Today I’m going to talk about theme.

It’s probably something everyone has been wondering about, the theme of this whole shindig. Well, it’s almost impossible to make it as straight forward as “fighting the Elyos/Balaur, Elyos/Balaur are bad.” because, lets face it, we’de sooner kill an Elyos than try to RP with one and unless the GMs decide to control the Balaur I really don’t see them joining in on the RP fun, as hilarious as that would be. I imagine a Balaur who likes flowers and really only wants to get into the world to pick them for his sick grandma and…

Continuing on.

Still, the theme is War. War and the impact it has on the government and everyday people around you. War makes people do crazy things, it makes the government do horrible things, and it makes those involved choose a side. I’ve been doing a lot of research on World War I and II in order to get a feel of how people are effected within such a huge conflict they really have no control over. There are a lot of interesting stories to be had, about strange alliances between opposing sides while in the trenches, paranoid governments and their constant propaganda, the normal citizens and their struggles to have normal lives. I also looked up information about wars that were opposed heavily, like the Vietnam War and the current War in Iraq. Both are interesting because of how they segregated the country, and how well they did so.

I, personally, see Daeva’s as drafted into a war that they may or may not want to be a part of. Having characters who are completely loyal to the government are like those who volunteered during World War II or after 9/11. They feel a sense of pride for their land and want to help defend it, so when they ascended their choice was an easy one. The opposite end are those who were drafted into, say, the Korean or Vietnam war, who didn’t want it and didn’t ask for it. Some may begrudgingly do their duty, others may burn their draft cards. In Aion, burning the draft card may translate to starting a resistance or even belonging to a legion that doesn’t have fighting as a first priority (Though some may argue they are like the USO, but that’s for in-game politics, I think.)

Your characters opinion on the war, whatever it is, will help shape them within the storyline. No character has a wrong opinion or a right one to us GMs, but many characters will disagree in-game. Our server wide storyline will deal with the consequences of war, whether it be a serious storyline or just a drinking event of some kind. It’s an easy place to go, as that seems to be Aion’s theme as well, but I think focusing on how the Daeva’s feel about their lot in life, and how the government is reacting to it will make for many interesting storylines.

War, what is it good for?

That’s for you to decide. :)

Storm Symphonic

Symphony of Storms has jumped in to help with the project, which is awesome of them. Thanks to Ashindai for making that possible and, of course, to SoS for saying yes. Having a Noble themed legion will help with the story line, especially since some guilds that already signed up don’t like nobles. Ooohh, intrigue. Can we expect hair pulling and slap fights? I certainly hope so!

The projects pre-event event finally has a set of roots and we’ll be planting it shortly (har har). We’re debating on how and when and for how long, but it’ll definitely be a surprise for those on the server. How are we doing it? Well, that’s a secret. You don’t want me to spoil it for you, do you? What I can say is that after this event, we’ll know where to put each and every one of you in the storyline.

Awesome.

I could have DAAAAANNCED all night! (Lumiel Events!)

Things are looking good for the Asmodian side as far at events go. There are two, count them TWO, Balls coming up in December. Time to put on your fancy Aion Clothes and pretend to be drunk while hitting on everyone you see.

First up, Symphony of Storms is hosting their Winter’s Ball on December 15th, 2009. The event will take place in the pretty little town of Baltasar Village (Protip: It’s in Bursthonin, NOT Beluslan. Yeah…. I totally made that mistake.) Baltasar Village has this really pretty tree that’s like HUGE and glowy. Apparently, this is also Caeden’s secret home (A wonder how he and Armi have never crossed paths as they live in the same area) so we’ll make sure to trash the place for him.

Starts at 8pm Server Time.

And just when you thought you needed to put away your dancing shoes, Disciples of Shadows is hosting their own Solstice Ball on December, 19th. Located in Beluslan at the Red Mane Caverns. I’ve never been there, but it may be cool. If you remember they hosted the Halloween event that turned out to be a smashing success, so I’m sure this one will be just as fun. It also starts at 8pm Server Time

Try not to get too exhausted and, hey, look me up for a dance ;o

Oh, the Behind the Scenes struggles. :P

The third day of setting up the project and much has gotten done. We have an idea for a pre-event event. Something to whet the appetite of legions on Lumiel. Still working out the details but it’s good to see things coming together.

Want to give a special shout out to Nordi for contacting all the Roleplaying Guilds he can and telling them about the project. If you are an RP guild expect a PM or /tell at some point! Which brings us to:

The Azureth Syndicate, Chimeras Dirge, AND Los Vaqueros Del Infierno are the first Legions to put their chips into the pile! We want to thank them for agreeing to the project and for their future support! We hope this is the beginning of a trend of Legions wanting to make a community story along side their own Legion story! Once I get more information about each guild, you can see a summary of their purpose within Asmodae and within the server storyline in the “About the Guilds” page.

Also, thank you to Maziken who has graciously donated his vent server to the cause. I’m pretty sure we’ll be getting lots of use out of it.
